About the event
Detroit CHEMpreneurIST, in collaboration with J.E. Clark Preparatory Academy, is excited to present an exclusive 8-week series of after-school workshops tailored specifically for the youth in our program. This private event is designed to empower young minds through a dynamic blend of entrepreneurship and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) activities, providing them with the tools and knowledge to navigate and excel in these fields.
Series Overview:
Entrepreneurship Focus:Our workshops will introduce students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship, guiding them through the process of turning their ideas into viable business ventures. They will engage in activities such as:
- Vision Boarding for Entrepreneurs: Students will create vision boards that represent their dreams and business aspirations, helping them visualize the impact they want to make in their community.
- Brand Development: Through hands-on activities, students will learn the importance of branding and will even design their own logos, understanding how visual identity plays a crucial role in business success.
- Market Research and Opportunity Analysis: Participants will develop an entrepreneurial mindset by learning how to identify market opportunities, understand consumer needs, and pitch their ideas effectively.
In addition to entrepreneurial skills, the workshops will delve deep into various STEM topics, emphasizing the intersection of science and innovation. Highlights include:
- The Chemistry of Everyday Products: Students will explore the science behind personal care products, engaging in experiments to create their own skincare items while learning about the chemistry involved.
- Extraction & Concentration Techniques: Participants will discover how natural dyes are extracted from plants and used in cosmetic products, applying these techniques to create art and understand the importance of concentration levels in achieving desired results.
By the end of this series, students will have a strong foundation in both entrepreneurship and STEM, equipped with practical skills and creative confidence to pursue their passions. This initiative reflects our commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators and entrepreneurs, who are not only well-versed in science but also capable of thinking critically and creatively about their future business endeavors.
