Instructions for 30 g (Kit will include 3 x 10 g jars)

  • Scale depending on size of container

  • Kit will contain: 1 x mixing stick and 1 x mixing cup

Instructions:

  1.  Add all ingredients to the mixing cup and mix with the mixing stick.

  2. If shea butter and coconut oil are too solid to mix, warm in the microwave for 10 seconds and try again.

  3. Separate lip balm into 3 jars and enjoy.

  4. If lip balm is melted from microwaving the ingredients, cool in the refrigerator for 15 minutes.

1. Handle Warm Ingredients Carefully:

If you need to warm the shea butter and coconut oil, ask an adult for help and be careful—it can get hot!

2. Mix Gently:

Use the mixing stick carefully to avoid spills or messes. Mix slowly until everything is combined.

3. Avoid Allergens:

Make sure no one is allergic to coconut oil, shea butter, or honey before making the lip balm.

Melting and Cooling

Warming solids (like shea butter) and letting them cool shows how materials change states from solid to liquid and back.

Emulsifying Ingredients

Emulsifying is when you mix two things that normally don’t like to mix, like oil and water, and make them stay together. Heat helps the ingredients “hold hands” while stirring keeps them together!

Ratios and Measurements

Proper amounts of each ingredient are important for creating a lip balm with the right texture and consistency.
