In Summer 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting workshops for 4 new partners! We are thrilled to announce our new partnerships with TRIO Upward Bound at Wayne State University, Nurture the Future, Matrix Human Services, and Hegira Health. These partnerships align perfectly with our mission to inspire and support Detroit's youth through science and entrepreneurship. TRIO Upward Bound at Wayne State University
Empowering Future Scholars
TRIO Upward Bound is a federally funded program aimed at increasing college enrollment and graduation rates for high school students from low-income households, families where neither parent holds a bachelor's degree, or students at high academic risk. Funded by the United States Department of Education under Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, TRIO Upward Bound is dedicated to providing vital support to participants as they prepare for college entrance.
Program Highlights:
Academic Instruction:Â Comprehensive support in mathematics, laboratory sciences, composition, literature, and foreign languages.
Personal Development:Â Tutoring, counseling, mentoring, and cultural enrichment programs.
Specialized Services:Â Programs for students with limited English proficiency, disabilities, or those from traditionally underrepresented groups in postsecondary education.
The goal of TRIO Upward Bound is to increase the rate at which participants complete secondary education and graduate from postsecondary institutions. By partnering with TRIO Upward Bound, we aim to provide our students with additional resources and support to achieve their educational dreams.
Nurture the Future
Supporting Strong Families
Nurture the Future, a program by The Guidance Center, offers free resources and preventative education in the Downriver area to develop strong families and assist parents in raising their children. Since its inception in October 2018, Nurture the Future has been providing early childhood workshops led by development professionals and has recently expanded its efforts to include parents of older children and young adults, thanks to a three-year grant.

Support Groups:Â Community support for parents and caregivers.
Family-Centered Activities:Â Engaging activities designed to strengthen family bonds.
Informational Resources:Â Access to valuable information to assist parents in raising well-rounded children.
Nurture the Future's comprehensive approach to supporting families aligns with our vision of empowering the next generation of entrepreneurs and scientists by fostering a nurturing and supportive home environment.
Matrix Human Services
A Legacy of Community Support
Matrix Human Services, a 501(c)3 organization, has been serving the Detroit community and surrounding areas for well over 100 years. Established in 1906 by the League of Catholic Women with a vision to fight poverty, Matrix Human Services continues to touch hearts and change lives with programs at more than 30 locations, serving over 20,000 individuals and families each year.
Mission: Matrix Human Services helps people realize a better future by empowering them with hope and providing a path to a better quality of life. The organization’s philosophy is a hand-up, not a handout, focusing on working with individuals willing to make and work towards a plan for self-sufficiency.

Adults and Seniors:Â Social and economic mobility programs to support families and rebuild neighborhoods.
Birth to 5:Â Head Start programs promoting school readiness for preschool children from low-income families.
Community Health:Â HIV testing, counseling, and medical care for individuals at risk or living with HIV.
Youth Programs:Â Prevention and intervention for children aged 10-17 to enhance quality of life, academic performance, and prevent juvenile justice system involvement.

Hegira Health
Comprehensive Behavioral Healthcare
Hegira Health, Inc. (HHI) is a recognized leader in community-based behavioral healthcare in the western and downriver regions of Wayne County, MI. Since 1971, HHI has been dedicated to ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of the community through a comprehensive array of services addressing mental health, substance use, primary medical care, and the needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
